MacKenzie joined Rep. Cantwell in September of 2017 to assist with directing and coordinating the Commission’s activities and assist with the Commission’s report to the Legislature.

Prior to joining Cantwell, MacKenzie spent her summer as a research assistant for the Centre for Disability Law and Policy in Galway, Ireland. During her time there MacKenzie worked first hand on major projects like editing and gathering information for a research bid to NATO concerning the protection of civilians with disabilities in areas of conflict. In addition, MacKenzie assisted the Centre by compiling information on the current status of ABLE accounts and wealth accumulation strategies of persons with disabilities in the US; she then presented that information in a seminar to CDLP staff and Irish government officials.

MacKenzie first became involved with advocating for persons with physical, mental, and behavioral disabilities as a substitute paraprofessional and administrative assistant for the Northshore Education Consortium.

She holds a bachelor's in Political Science with a minor in Peace and Conflict Studies and is currently in her second year at Suffolk University Law School.
