Maryanne Frangules

Executive Director of the MA organization for Addiction Recovery

Ms. Frangules is currently the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery (MOAR), which she helped found, where her priorities include community mobilization of recovering persons, friends, and families to educate the public about the value of recovery in Massachusetts. Why?  She is a person in long term recovery from addiction, which means she has not used alcohol or drugs for 30 plus years. Moving from the devastation caused by addiction, she discovered the power of her voice. Since 1991, she has watched what is now MOAR and Friends Recovery Month Celebration Day build from a crowd of 50 to over 1000 celebrating the value of living in recovery. Now many entities celebrate National Recovery Month. Maryanne looks forward to a day when the stories of recovery replace the devastation of overdoses.    For almost 20 years, she has helped mentor many individuals and families to discover the power of their voice to improve addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery support services, criminal justice policies, and health care policies.
